Blown Pistol Primer

Went to the range today and had a blown pistol primer. I was shooting factory American Eagle 9mm, 124gr.

Just wanna know what can cause this? Simply bad primer?

I bet you $10 there is no flash hole in that case!

Get a needle or punch and pry the primer out.

Send the pictures to federal.

It was in the pocket sideways.

Bingo!! It was seated in sideways. Didn't know this could happen and surprised that it wasn't set off at the production line.

Bingo!! It was seated in sideways. Didn't know this could happen and surprised that it wasn't set off at the production line.

You would be surprised at how much abuse primers can seem to endure and not go off.
