The seller told me it was a colt new line but it's not a
new line.the only markings i can see is ter on the grips
there is something written on the top strap but i can't make it out.
i bought it as a interesting display piece I'm curious
who it was made by.
the trigger and hammer actually work it looks like a 30/32 rimfire

The screw & pins are wrong for a newline, at least ones I've seen and owned, possibly a cheap copy. The Colts of the day were good but expensive, more people bought the copies made from inferior metal.

I'll bet the top strap says "Marquis of Lorne"

circa 1870'ish

32 Rimfire Black Powder "pocket pistol" aka..."suicide specials"

Lot's of companies made similar versions back then...cheap and affordable to the working man back in the day. TER was likely one of the companies that made copies.

Hope that helps...

TER is the T.E.Ryan Firearms Co., which is also written as the Thomas E. Ryan Firearms Co., and also written as the Thomas E. Ryan Company. The company was based in New York.

~~~
Not to be confused, but there was also a Thomas J. Ryan Mfg. Co. of Norwich, Connecticut. This company moved to NY City and became the Ryan Pistol Mfg. Co..
