Hello all,
I have myself a BLR 81 I got used from a guy and I am trying to adjust the sights on it. I believe that they are a simple screw for adjusting height and elevation at the back and the front sights also adjusts left and right however I am not familiar enough with it and was looking for more info before I mess it up. If anyone has one and knows how to adjust it the info would be much appreciated

Thanks GS

The rear sight also adjusts left and right. On each side at the back you'll see a screw head. Loosen one, then tighten the other to move it side to side. In about the center of the rear sight from the top the screw raises and lowers. You can maybe download a manual from Brownings site?

i tried looking for a manual and all i could find was a field manual, read it through and said nothing about sights only about taking apart which i thought was wierd. also i know that the rear sight is adjustable but is there any way to determine how much you are adjusting it by turning those screws cuz that leaves alot to be unsure about especially when trying to sight in

Here is what the BLR manual says:

Horizontal
1. To move the point of impact to the right: loosen the coin slotted screw, located on the right side of the sight by turning in a counter-clockwise direction and tighten the screw on the left side by turning in a clockwise direction. This causes the rear sight to move to the right.

2. To move the point of impact to the left: simply reverse this procedure.

That's it; there's also a spiffy pic of a screwdriver against one of the screws.

How much are we talking? I'd try 3/4 of a turn each side(out/in), then put 2 throught it from 100 yds and go from there. If you're talking a consistant 1/4-1/2", I'd go 1/4 of a turn.
Don't know the caliber you've got, but if it's a whopper, make sure you're not pulling it. When I first got my 450 marlin, it was consistantly to the right about 1.5". Wasn't the gun, it was me. Screw out, screw in, until about 200rnds later I'm right back where I started. (ya'd think by now I'd know better, but apparently not)
Hope this helps some.
