So I just picked up a BLR Takedown in .308 Win (Blued/Walnut) - anyone else have one of these bad boys? The mags seem a bit cheesy compared to the rest of rifle... She doesn't seem to like the 7.62 Milsurp stuff - the brass extracts pretty hard from it - I only tried like 20 shots or so but I will have to see how she likes my home brewed 168 Grain Ballistic Silver Tip Noslers. So now the question is: what scope should I put on her? As well, are you guys carrying this broken down or leaving it complete?

I think a low powered (1-4X) and short scope would be the very best for the gun. My dad put a shorter Vortex on his Winchester 94 and he loves it.

I don't have one of these, but I'm thinking about getting one and am looking forward to your opinions on it. As for your scope, I think it would make sense to look for a scope short enough that it wouldn't extend beyond the front of the receiver. That way, when you take the gun apart the overall length of the package would not be affected. Maybe a Leupold 1-4x would work?

Browning also sells a scout scope mount for this gun, which attaches to the barrel and requires a long-eye-relief forward-mounted scout scope. You might want to look at that. It would mean that the scope and barrel remain attached together when the gun is disassembled, which would help with repeatable accuracy.

Good luck with your new toy. Let's hear how things go for you.

Well, I took it out shooting today and I discovered that the open sights are pretty hard to shoot. I don't know if it is the gold bead on the front post or my difficulty to focus on the sight but it wasn't fun to shoot. I was able to bullseye at 25m but as soon as I pushed it to 100m I was getting like 5" groups. I really want to switch the sights now as I am a pretty decent shot with irons but this is nothing like shooting AR15 irons. Is there any options for an apeture sight for the rear and perhaps a fine tip front post?
