Maybe this has been asked/answered before (and i've done a quick search with no promising results) but does anyone know of a good gunsmith near Calgary that can re-blue a shot gun for me.
Just inherited my grandfathers cooey 840 36" 12G. The barrel has seen better days and the receiver looks like it's been sanded or hit with steel wool and left alone. Both have some rust which i'd like removed and then re-blued. When I get back to Calgary i'm going to break the gun down into every small little piece and hopefully get the lot back to good shape, stock included. Hopefully a nice project to get fixed up for pheasant season in a few weeks.
Also does anyone know where I could find a replacement trigger guard screw and plastic fore stock hinge/spacer piece. (Also going to post a WTB ad in the EE)

Don't know about in Calgary but you could try Western Gun Parts in Edmonton. As far as a smith goes I think there is a guy by the name of John Rempel in Calgary. Not sure of the first name but positive someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Those actions don't blue well. The barrels do.

Why make your grandfathers old gun look like a new gun...? It won't look like his old gun...

Hang it on the wall or use it with memories of his use of it...

Normally I would agree with you, but its not really that old... Late 70's maybe. Its still a rather useable gun just think it deserves a little better then to be subjected to massive surface rusting and to be stuck on a wall. Someone already started refinishing the stock, and clearly started to try removing the rust on the action and left it which made the rusting worse.

Either way I found someone to do the work so I'll post some pics when it's all done.
