Another noob question. I want to pick up a Surgeon bolt knob but the I can only find it in stainless steel. What is the best way to match it to a blued rifle? Easy for my little brain to get confused with all of the info on the web.

Does it have to be hot blued? Does that get good results or other suggestions?

If hot bluing, any recommend a good gunsmith?

Cerakote it Graphite Black (must figure the hardner ratio to match the sheen), this is a CM barrel bead blasted with #6 beads at 80# and blued, the muzzle brake and Surgeon bolt knob I cerakoted to match, most guys could not tell. Stainless can be blued but it will never match the chromoly, is it a gloss finish or a bead blasted blue job?

Send it to Murdoc on here, he will nitron black it. He can dip cm and stainless, and they come out the same.

Bluing, hot or cold, doesn't work on SS. There are SS blackeners though. Birchwood Casey makes one. Applied like cold bluing.
Cerakote is powder coating. Powder coating is not a bad thing. Better protection than bluing of any type.
