Yes it needs to be heated so ABS is a no no.

Canam's stainless tanks are the best value on the Market...definitely worth the wait if they are not in stock.
I use mine regularly for Parkerizing and they are 30%-100% less than any others I could find; and made to last! Tig Welded Stainless with lids and handles too!

Best to mix it yourself. Stay away from molten salt and use the KNO/AN water formulas. there are several posted on forums

Aqua Regia and iron works beautifully if you're going for a finer finish, too

What about just getting some stainless sheet metal and welding it up yourself? Is this more than $150 of stainless?

Provided people can nicely fold stainless sheet and weld it water tight it might work; I know I'm not good enough to do that. Maybe braze it, but end of the day I'd probably just buy a tank with nicely rolled edges that I know will work.

If the tanks weren't ever going to be available I'd say you're on the right track, but I'm not desperate enough yet Even though I suspect it's chinese made I'm still a fan of these.
