BMS CAM rifle: a turnbolt built around an AR15 bolt head and barrel extension

Interesting mechanical solution to the lack of primary extraction inherent in the AR bolt and barrel extension.

The rifle compares favorably in size with the SAKO and CZ mini-Mausers. The bolt throw looks pretty fast, almost reminiscent of a straight pull, no doubt due to a combination of no manual initial extraction, the #### on closing bolt and the 22.5 degree bolt lift. Accuracy looks decent with surplus ammo, suggesting a fast twist rifling, but I'd like to see how it shoots with match ammo.

It likely won't take our gun hating overseers to declare this thing an AR variant. Looking at the rifle rack in the background, can it be that ARs and standard capacity magazines are still legal in the UK?

And for the lever action crowd. A little closer to home and supposedly going to be making kits.

They have uppers converted to straight pull, spring assist and cannot be converted to semi auto. They have no magazine restrictions like us. They can also use silencers.

I've had a few M1 carbines over the years that were setup in similar fashion to make 'em non restricted for hunting and plinking. Never had to chase brass or worry about cycling any load that would fit the mag or chamber right. Accuracy is generally improved a fair bit on straight pull conversions.

I did up my Winchester 1400 12 ga. as well in straight pull and its been a favorite bush gun & fun shooter of mine since the conversion.

My interest is not necessarily the bolt mechanism, but I am interested in some sort of a receiver setup to use our spare AR-15 barrels with.

Preferably a quick change Savage style system.

An AR type barrel and its barrel extension is held in place by a threaded collar. Isn't that sort of a "Savage" system? If the AR style barrel extension is used, an AR type bolt must be used also. That is how the ARish straight pull rifles are set up, as is this rifle. With the barrel extension, barrels can be swapped easily. I suppose that AR barrel extensions could even be clamped into a a split receiver ring, or locked in place with set screws. But AR extension = AR bolt.
Or are you talking about using AR type barrels without the AR type barrel extensions? Just installing the barrels into receivers using their threads? Extra machining to the shanks would be required for a Savage style nut to be used.
