BNP marking question

Quick question - were all firearms exported from the UK marked BNP or just those that had seen military service?

As far as I know the BNP was done when the rifles were released into civilian markets. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong......

Thanks - I'm just trying to determine why my Winchester 9422 has a bunch of BNP proof marks smattered all over it.

Any gun imported into England has to be proofed before being sold on the open market. Old imports will be marked with "Not English Make", which I always found funny myself!

BNP if memory serves me correctly stands for "British Nitro Proofed"
