I bought this Israeli service BNZ 45 Mauser off of the EE a cupple of weeks ago and I a making a project out of it. I want to turn it back to how it once may have looked and also use vintage and some special battle field pic ups on it. here is the first pic of how the rifle was when bought . as I get the new parts in and make progress I will post more pics.
right now the gun is completely stripped and we found out the barrel is actually an SS contract so the gun is a little more special and will be a keeper in my collection.
here is the first photo:

Here is the first couple of parts.
the first is replacing the trigger with a WW2 battlefield pick up. it was found in a bunker in Latvia and still in working condition. a little filing and it fits fine.

the second is replacing the strait bolt handle with a curved one .I'm not sure the make of the new bolt but it has a crown on it. the middle bolt is also a battle field pick up from Latvia I cleaned myself.

That's a Gewehr 98 bolt that was likely converted to Gew98b standard in the mid-1930's. After that it could have found its way into a K98k depot build or something.

I'd be maybe tempted to put in a set of German bottom metal, use the bent bolt, and call it good enough. The stock could probably use to be cleaned and oiled.

I'm a relic collector so I am trying to bring back some old parts. the history is more important to me then just the rifle.but I am keeping all the parts I take off. i'm not getting rid of them.
I am also staying away from most marked parts because I don't want any fake stamps or new parts.

I changed the trigger back. I think I will just keep the relics to compare and use the good parts on the actual gun. next part is the trigger guard.

I think that's a good idea.

I would definitely change out the bolt to the bent one. The bent Gew 98 bolt is a far better fit than the Chiang Kai Shek bolt that it came with. Original WW2 bottom metal would look good but the "winter" trigger guard on there now is possibly the original from when it was refurbed by the Czechs. Is it numbered?

I got two mag floor plates and I was wondering what would be the correct one to use for 1945. the one looks like it has a little sun on it and does not have the same notches cut into it.
what would be the correct one?

Typically 1945 would have been an un-numbered stamped sheet steel follower, either phosphated or blued, with no markings or a WaA135. A reject part could also have been used. I have also seen some 45 KM's with salvaged gew98 parts on them, so if it were me, I'd use the top one which is a WW1 era part. Or look for a stamped follower on e-bay.

As an aside, there's a guy from the Netherlands on e-bay now selling a host of original WW2 bottom metal out of decomission norwegian capture K98k's. A BNZ45 would have a WaA77 or WaA623 milled trigger guard, a byf WaA135 un-numbered guard, or a qlv no-WaA guard without lock screws.

I looked it up in a book I just got and the sun looks like it is Chinese. I have another spring and follower coming. when I get that one I will decide to use it or the other follower.

I don't wanna put any parts on my gun that are amt numbered because I don't want it to be called fake. there is a guy from Poland selling all the waffen stamps and I am almost sure the stuff the guy from the Netherlands is selling is fake also a guy in the US has a bunch of fake stuff. so using non marked stuff or like older marked parts is okay by me. but there is to many fakes out there. I could just get a stamp and mark it myself.

i'll put pics of the trigger guard up when I get a chance.

There are also alot of guys with legit parts with all waa. Just saying, not all is fake. And typically parts themselves arent faked, matching guns are. Or unserialled parts are.

here is a pic of the guard I went with(no floor plate yet). I would rather have the stamped late style guard so that is something I am looking for in the future.
I am still staying away from any amt marked stuff. i just want the parts to be correct.

Nobody makes a fake stamped sheet metal tg. Numrich has several original ones listed on their site by maker code. I just got one from them, it was nice and is kosher.

The stamped floor plate I got from them was real, but not serviceable. I've sent it back for return and we shall see what they send me as a replacement?
