Is there an accuracy advantage to the Rebated Boattails over the standard Boattails....I've read claims of 10-15% increase in accuracy with the rebated design, any truth to this claim?
Thanks

Quite a few years ago I recall an epic thread on the theory/benefits of rebated boat tail designs. It got quite... colourful IIRC.

I think consistent jacket/core and concentricity are most important to accuracy; various boat tail types may have ballistic advantages over others, but that's for others to prove.

Thanks Silverado, I see it's mostly custom shops producing the rebated boattail plus Lupua has three in their line up as well. I've also read they will improve barrel life.

Once again, another NO.. no improvement on barrel life. The positive thing about RBT bullets are more in favour to the manufacturer,

much less broken point up punches, down side is it is usually one extra step in the process.

Nothing wrong with them, they are very good bullets, just nothing magic. Having said that, I think everyone should have at least one box:)
