I see that Stery has introduced a bolt action in 450 Marlin. Way cool. Does anyone know of a bolt action 45-70? I know that Ruger chambers this cal. in their single shots, and the 45-70 is a popular Marlin lever.

I am talking about something "modern", like a Rem 700, Win 70, Savage 111 / 110.

Not a sharps, or other type of firearm from the 1870's

One of my projects is a Ruger 77 in .458x2". That is about the same thing. Barrel is on and chambered, barrelled action needs final inletting.

The "Gibbs Rifle Company" in the states was, and maybe still is, offering a lee enfield conversion to 45/70.
You may also be able to find a Siamese Mauser conversion done by Numrich Arms and marketed through Century International when they were still in Canada or one of the custom Pattern 14 Enfield conversions done in the early seventies by many of the fine gunsmiths working at that time. Many were done in the Kamloops and Edmonton areas to name a few. Sadly, most of those smiths are either out of business or gone to the great hunting ground beyond. Many of them were really works of art and were very strong and accurate. bearhunter
