Bolt-action guys ever have this problem?

Posted in gunsmithing but maybe here would work too.

If I put one round in and push the bolt forward, it'll feed perfectly. But for the life of me, more than one round cannot be reliably inserted. I push one in, then try and feed another, and they both just get stuck until I open up the floorplate and they fall out. They try and do a "left, right" thing in the magazine (left on top, right on top like an AR mag)

Cleaned up, only 40 rounds through it, thought it was something I was doing wrong (very well could be) but it won't feed no matter how hard I try to get it to.

Look and observe what exactly is causing the hang up when you try to push the bolt forward. It could be a number of things but simply take a look and tell us what is going on.

It seems the round is caught int he magazine on either the left or the right hand side...and the carrier does not bring the round up high enough to insert it into the chamber.
I tried to take some pics to explain:
Inset one round (well im using a spent casing here) into the gun...all is good and it'll cycle fine as is.

Push the round down into the magazine, and instinctively it catches onto the right hand side of the mag and "locks in":

Put 2 in, the first round goes to the right, and the second one seems to go to the left:

So here 3 rounds are in...but none of them go in straight...either to the left or right...with 3 rounds in, the bullet will go up on an angle into the chamber but hit it at a weird angle and get stuck halfway in. Pic of 3 rounds in the mag:

If it's something really simple and stupid im gonna feel dumb for asking and wasting everybody's time :D

Picture of the bullet "trying" to go into the chamber but hitting it at a weird angle and getting stuck..this is with 2 rounds in;

Well the cartridges are supposed to be staggered. This is also how the cartridges stay in(follower pressure on the inside shoulder of the action).

My guess from what you are showing is that this is largely because you are trying to load empty cases and you are probably cycling the action slowly.

It's not the case, with live rounds it does the exact same thing.

Obviously this is a gun new to you... but is it a new or used rifle? Is there any warranty? If it is new, get it fixed under warranty. If there is no warranty, take it to a gunsmith - that is what they are for.

It's a new gun. I just took it in, seems that it was a combination of the bolt not being all the way back (when I slide the bolt back, it stops at which I thought was "all the way back" but it still had a bit of space to go and me not being firm enough with the bolt (1000 for a gun you don't wanna be slamming it, but that's my fault)
Chalk it up to user error. Thanks guys! :)

Haha yeah, but the nut who wrote my instruction manual needs to be readjusted too; It says mag compacity: 5 but I know it's 4. :p

Just found that when I was searching the manual for a fix :D
