I have just acquired a stevens 58 12 guage. The intended use is for use in ''shot gun-shot only'' areas for deer hunting. Should I leave it just as it is-add sights,or just hunt with it?
As for ammunition-what would you use-SSG-or some of this 3 ball shot shot shell ?[single projectile prohibited]I assume the range would be limited to 40 yards or less in any case

Try it at 40 yards and see what it does just with the bead. If you're happy with how it shoots, leave it. I had a Mossberg 500 that would group 3 shots inside 2 inches at 30 yards with just a bead. I always have to tinker, so I'd probably not listen to my own advice and I'd add sights or a 2.5X scope.
I'm not familiar with the 3-ball shotshell, but I've seen deer killed with SSG at 30+ yards, one shot.
Just curious, where is this shot-only area?
