Bolt Disassembly On A Tavor

I have watched the vids on YouTube by our own guys and some others and I have a problem getting that retainer pin out as the first step of the break down process. Did any of you guys have the same problem? One of the vids has the guy pushing it out with his thumb - I gave mine a light tap with a hammer and punch and the damned thing didn't budge. I know there are a couple versions of the Tavor out...is this yet another one with a different twist?

Only Bubba is a more incompetent smith than I am and I get really nervous beating on metal parts I am not familiar with. Your two cents is sincerely appreciated.

There is a video on YouTube. The spring is released off of the back of the bcg, and the pin comes out with no force.

You're not the first. Pull the buffer guide rod back. All the way back. Then hold it there.

For the record though it was like pulling teeth. I got a plastic mallet and a punch and it didn't tap out - I had to beat on it! It went back together pretty nicely too.

Don't think I'll do a complete tear down yet...but I can imagine that will be a bit of a 'roid for the first time too...

Usually putting that little firing pin back with the bolt requires 3 hands and a prayer to shiva. I'm always sweating when I'm doing it.
