As the title suggests, I would like to find out what books exist on stock and forend making for shotguns (or any firearm for that matter)?

If you do know of such books, which ones are worth reading and can you provide the reference?

Many thanks,

BT

One of the better books that I have on gunmaking goes into stockmaking in some depth. Its Double Shotguns by Steven Dodd Hughes.

And to raise a trivial point, the term "furniture" does not mean the stock. Furniture means small parts such as the top lever, safety, trigger guard, etc.

Like I said a trivial point but if we can fuss over the proper pronunciation of Leopold and why calling it a clip is wrong when what you really mean is magazine then I thought I'd just mention it in passing.;)

Thanks for the link and the clarification.

Everyone on the board calls it furniture (ex. synthetic furniture, Hogue over-moulded furniture, etc...) but you learn everyday:D

I shall now focus my search on stockmaking;)

" Furniture " ...

If you continue to agree with "everyone on the board" then you would all be (continually) wrong !

Claybuster is correct.

:D :p :D :p

Like Claybuster needs someone to back him up;)

Just yanking your chain:)

All kidding aside, what book would you recommend?

Checkering & Carving of Gunstocks by Monte Kennedy, Gunsmithing by Roy Dunlap. You should be able to order both from Brownell's.

Check their web page, search "Books".
