I finally got out for pheasant after moving Mom to a new care home but we did well. It was way too hot and standing crop made the birds less accessible but my "pocket pointer" Boone came through with some nice points and running down a bird I didn't hit well enough. The burrs were horrendous and took over an hour to get out but it was still a great day.

I remember spending hours picking burrs when I hunted with spaniels. It's one of the reasons that I switched to labs though I miss the spaniel enthusiasm. Here is my Boone with the results of one of last years hunts.
