I'm in need of a good pair of boots for partridge hunting. I would like something that is light, good traction and comfortable for long walking. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

X2 on the Danners, my FT St Louis have held up through some pretty ugly conditions and are still going strong after many years (10-15?). Take care of them and they will take care of you. Last year I purchased a pair of Irish Setters, I can't remember the name, but there are the ones that go right up to the top of your calf. Pretty much overkill for upland probably, but nice and warm, water proof, and above all, super light. They were a dream come true in moose camp last year.

I actually went into the store fully intending to buy Danner Pronghorns and instead came out with Irish Setters. They simply felt better on my feet, and I haven't regretted the purchase one bit. I don't remember if I bought them last yr, or the yr before.

Best thing I can say about them is when we're putting on the miles hunting I never once think about my feet, and my feet never feel tired.

Thanks guys. Has anyone tried 511 tactical coyote's? I tried a pair on today and they seem real nice... light with excellent tread and made for military so very durable. Thoughts?

I bought a set of Setters a bunch of years ago.
Hurt like the beejeezus, but they are my walking in the bush boots.
That's it, that's all.
Now the dang kid has tak'in a shining to them.
If it gets her out in the bush with me, I will hurt again.
The Setters are light, warm, comfortable and they seem to stay dry.
Wicking they do very well.
Buy what feels great on your feet.
Put both on and walk around the store if you are serious on them.

I purchased a pair of Rocky Broadheads they are the littest boots ive ever worn only problem is they kind of got chewed up in the all the thorns when i was hunting in after but still supe rnice boot the sole is very soft and quiet on the trails. My other pair of boots are my Rocky Bear Claws amazing boots never ever had an issues with them huntd upto -25 in them,,,,

I have a pair of the Meindl Perfekt Hiker that Cabela's sells. Awesome boot, more comfortable than most anything I've worn and good for warmer weather as they're uninsulated.
They're only 7" high, but that's fine if there's no deep water. They're Gore-tex lined as well.
