Border patrol revolvers

Thirty-five years ago in Texas, we were stopped at a border patrol checkpoint about fifty miles north of Brownsville, and the trooper was carrying a S&W M 29 and speedloaders, so at least some were in favour of 44 Magnum.

I believe the OP was referring to the Colt Border Patrol revolvers, that were labeled that way on the barrel. They were a four inch barrelled Colt J frame Mk III in .357 Magnum. I have one in the safe somewhere. The only difference between them and any other four inch Mk III is the label on the barrel. I paid $350 for mine, if it helps - dan

I also have one of the Colt Border Patrol guns; nice, solid gun; action is slicker then snot, and very smooth. I enjoy shooting it. Typical Colt. No one makes them like that anymore.

Hmmm I guess I will have to see what he wants for them. I was hoping the action was smooth like the Python. I could give one to my dad.
That's "if" it's not a Smith.
Would the model 28 be worth more money?

There is also a S&W model 66 commemorative? Is that the same thing as all the other border patrol revolvers. Has stamping on barrel and crest on the frame.

No.. S&W made a model 66 Commerative for the Border Patrol but they made the model 28 Highway Patrolman NOT the Border Patrol. That was a Colt as stated above by Dan. Border Patrol may have used some S&W models but the actual model called the Border Patrol was a Colt.
