Bore Guide for Ruger SR-22

Hey guys,

Just wondering about cleaning my Ruger SR-22. I think I'm going to get a dewey coated rod and I guess I should get a bore guide too? Just wondering what you guys out there recommend.

I have never used either. Standard 3 piece rod qorks fine. Bore guides are snake oil IMO. Serves no purpose.

Well a bore guide will serve a purpose if your using a steel rod!
But seriously its a sr22 not a match target rifle! I have well over 3500 rds through my sr22 and never cleaned the bore! Just the moving stuff! You don't really need to clean the bore that often!

Unless you're cleaning from the muzzle(then a crown protector will do) how will a solid rod be used to clean an SR22 ? Then, why would a bore guide be needed ?

Oops!! Eyes read bore guide! Brain said crown protector! Haha my bad!

I just take really good care of my firearms and wanted to make sure that I don't damage the crown. Any advice is appreciated.
