Did some searching and have a question. I've bore sighted my 50bmg at 30yards. Scope is a Vortex Viper pst on a 20min rail. The elevation is maxed out and it's not quite where the bore points. Is this normal? I guess bore sighting with a big bore is tougher, no laser, just pulled the bolt out.

Or use a very small reference point at close range - after all it's line of sight through the bore aligned with the sight or scope reticle.

at 30yds your bullet impact should be about equal to your scope over bore messurement - IE if you scope centerline is 3" above your bore centerline.. then at 30yds your bullet impact should be about 3" LOWER then your point of aim. that would put u damn close for 100yd site in. then walk it out from there if you want a further zero.

Personally all my rifles (long range any way) get a 100yd zero regardless of caliber, that way when switching from one rifle to another and back and so on, i always have the same starting point, no having to remember 4/5/6 different zeros
