I just sighted my rifle with a laser bore sighter. And I'm kind of confused as to how the elevation and windage dials work. The laser was a little lower and a little right of the reticle. Instead of turning the dials down and right I had to turn them up and to the left to get the middle of the reticle and laser lined up. Is my scope flipped or is this how all scopes are like?

bore sighting

that is right just think of it like this ,red dot of laser is bullet on target and if its low and to the right to correct it you would have to you would have to move scope dials up and to the left to get scope on target......right,,which is exactly what you did:):sniper:

Sounds like your scope is on sideways,or it's a cheapy where the dials don't match the direction.

Remember that bore sighting does put you on paper at 50-100 yards but you'll need to fine tune you scope at the range. I got to Silverdale on the weekends from time to time, PM me and we can meet there I'll help you out on adjustments.

read his post again

he was LOW and RIGHT and turned his dials DOWN and RIGHT. That made it worse. Obviously. So he turned them UP and LEFT and got on the paper. Exactly as would be expected.

Why immediately assume he has a CHEAP scope???

Any scope i've ever had,you click up,the reticle moves up..

Hmmm... Typically the "up" means move your POI up and, similarly, "left" means to move your POI left. To "fool" you into aiming higher up, the reticule must be moved lower, making you raise your aiming point to compensate. The concept for windage is the same: to make you aim more to the left (as the label on the dial indicated), the reticule will be moved right so that you compensate.

You quoted me,so read it and you have your answer..

read what he said again not the reticle was lower and to the right of the laser

Am i the only one that has had scopes where you click up,the reticle moves up,you click left, the reticle moves left?

What kind of scope are you using anyway (make/model)? Besides, if you know how it works, what difference does it make which way you turn your dials :)
No for some reason i was thinking it was the other way around..i was the dumbass :S
i'm using a Tasco 6-24x50 on my CIL 171

Well since the tread is done...

It's Equipped with the finest accessories China has ever produced ;)
The build cost less than $200,including the gun lol

Either your rifle is small, or you've got the Hubble space telescope mounted to it :dancingbanana: (although since it's a 50mm obj. lens, I take it it's the former!)

Nice looking rig, even though I'm not really a fan of stainless :)

Want weird sighting? I just sighted in my cheesy trophy red-dot using a $30 Bushnell bore sighter...I had to keep moving my thumb infront of the scope to make sure i was looking at the right red dot...kind of blew the $200 budget though. Nice rig Ronin.
