Just for kicks, I attached my digital camera to my borescope to see how well things work out..
The rifle is an old Remington 14 whose bore has had several baths in Ed's Red.
Look at the copper fouling left. I guess that it needs a few baths still.
The idea is feasible. I just need to make up something to hold things steady. Perhaps in my lathe. We'll see how the winter goes.

Ed's Red is a good nitro solvent, will also dissolve plastic residue from shot gun wads if it has the acetone content but it doesn't do much for copper or gilding metal fouling. You will save yourself a lot of work (and wonder) if you get a good COPPER solvent. Wipe out is one of the easiest to use and won't damage the bore after extended working time like some copper solvents will. Don't use a bronze jag or brush when you are using copper solvent or the chemical will work on the jag/brush and you will continually get a blue trace colour on the patch.

x2 on the CR-10 - its the best I've found so far. I haven't tried Sweets yet. Another combination that seems to get rave reviews is JB bore paste and Kroil penetrating oil mixxed together. As far as powder fouling goes I swear by Ed' Red too.
