Boring a chamber

In the large gunsmithing volume published by Rifle magazine there is an article describing the boring of chambers for bottlenecked rifle cartridges, using a conventional lathe, without DRO. I cannot say if it could be done fairly easily with a CNC lathe.

You would get too much deflection in a small boring bar when boring standard cartridge chambers, chambering reamers give you a much better finish. Although, the larger chambers like the straight taper types, could be done in a lathe.

Has anyone ever bored a chamber successfully.
I'm thinking this could be done on a CNC lathe fairly easy.
Maybe I'm out to lunch but it was just a thought.

Depends on your definition of success. I have cut chambers with a D-bit cutter/reamer in a lathe. Good enough for my purpose.
