Borrowing a restricted

Firearms act section 33
a may person may lend a firearm if the borrower holds a license and if the RO lends the registration certificate for it.
Does anyone know how this works?
If the restricted firearm is registered at a friend's address how do I borrow it and take it to the range? Do I need to get an ATT to take it from his house to mine to be covered by mine going to the range?
These rules don't make any sense.
 
Call the CFO. An ATT will be needed for you to get possession. They will need to know where it is. Don't meet at the range and take it home.

They don't need sh*t. Need would mean there is a genuine value to them knowing. They WANT to know because they are power hungry over lords. I don't see any issue with meeting at a range and taking it home.
 
It depends on how your ATT reads. If you ATT lists your firearms, then I would say you will need to call your CFO. I can transport any restricted firearm (borrow) as long as I also have the reg cert. I can meet buddy at the range OR get a short term ATT and p/u at his house. I would choose the first option.
 
An ON ATT is valid for all restricted firearms/prohibited handguns registered to the residence of the ATT holder.
The gun would not be; OP's ATT wouldn't cover it to bring it home from the range.
Once it is formally borrowed, with an ATT to get it to the OP's house, then the OP's ATT would kick in.
 
Thanks all. So as I understand it as long as I have the registration document and legally get the gun to my house, then my att covers getting it to a range and back (my att is for any restricted firearms legally in my posession).

There's nothing legally requiring an ATT, unless I'm missing something? At what point in time did ATT's become firearms-specific, and is this the case in every province?

Some folks have really got screwed over and have their firearms listed on the ATT and the ATT is only for the range they are a member of. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!!!

I did call in b.c....the answer was, "all you need is the cert."

What they told me was, in short...meet at the range, get cert. from lender and take home.

Maybe this has changed but I called in the last year or so...
 
The more I think I about it the more I realize that ATTs would be almost impossible to enforce if people just ignored it. NOT saying anyone should break the law!! but hypothetically, the RCMP can't check every person and every car at every range all over the country all the time forever...

No idea what a BC target shooting ATT says. If it covers the situation, great. An ON ATT doesn't.
 
My ATT states that "The holder must be in possession of the Registration Certificate(s) for the Fireamr(s) being transported."

Nothing about the firearm being registered to my address. CFO in Alberta stated that if I meet a friend at the range (he as an ATT to take his gun to the range) I can borrow his firearm, and reg cert, and take it to my home under my ATT, No other paperwork required.
 
So here's what's happened. I called Thursday and they emailed me a 1 year after to take my friends gun from his house or mine to the ranges that I am a member of. This ATT lists his gun specifically. Took about 7 I really 8 minutes on the phone and I received the email about 10 minutes after that. Thanks for all the replies.
