How well do these perform? I am thinking about getting the BPS hunter and noticed this feature. What is the main purpose of bottom ejection (aside from it being just damb cool)...rain? Also how is this gun. Thanks for the help

i can't say about the qualitity of the gun, but the purpose of bottom ejection is:

A: to enable anyone to use the firearm without getting a face full of brass (due to a lefty using a righty gun)
B: to reduce the visual signs of ejected brass
C: to avoid all together the concept of flinging brass into other people.
D: to make a firearm very ###y

notice that all of these reasons have to do with the issues of side ejection? bottom ejection has its problems too, but its an improvement.

D is my Fav. This way of chambering seems way more efficient also. Thanks

... I didn't know Remington made bottom eject pumps....although I was aware that the new CTI is..and wouldn't mind knowing more about it ... as well as any bottom eject Rem. pump...thanks

Sounds like the Remington Model 17 which was the basis for the Ithaca Model 37.

I think bottom ejection was designed for:
1. Lefties Righties.
2. Avoid hitting people with spent cases.
3.Easier to find spent caseing as they are at your feet.
4.Keeps dirt, debries, water ect. out of the action
5.Looks damn ###y
6.I find to also not hurt right ear.

I own an Ithaca M37 which is bottom ejection, I love it and I have found it to stay very clean on its own, gun will be covered in pine/spruce needles, pollen, bark, lichen ect. none in action :).

Nope, not a Model 17, but a Model 29 in 12ga. Pretty old (like most of my hand-me-down guns) but the bottom ejection sure is sweet.

(I'll post a couple of pics whenI figure out how to get them smaller)
