Please forgive my ignorance but I have to start somewhere. I am building a nice gopher gun and its a very simple configuration however , some questions ate eating at me. The action will be a Defiance Deviant short action. Which is Rem mod 7 length. It will be a 20 vartarg or a 20 Tac. So that is why i chose the action i did........ its somewhere close to the appropriate length . Now , where on earth do guys get bottom metal for a single shot????...... of that length. Note this action is shorter than the 700 short. I really would prefer not to inlet for a magwell and all that. Sometimes simple is hard.

If you want a single shot, build a blind mag stock. Add trigger guard .... done

if the action is a repeater, put in a single shot follower into the action opening, blind mag stock... done.

If it is a repeater in a repeater stock already inletted for M7 bottom metal, add BDL bottom metal, throw a single shot follower into the mag... done.

If you WANT a repeater and use AICS mags, then pm or email. I might have a M7 CDI DBM here but can certainly get one for you. Then add a CDI AICS single shot block which I can also supply and .... done.

sorry , I do not understand what a blind mag stock is. this will be a singlr shot action.......with coned bolt. I just don't understand how the action bolts on with no bottom metal besides the trigger guard. the other issue is that this action is shorter than a rem 700 short action so I assume the action screw spacing is different. I not interested in the contraptions I see for bottom metal such as a floor plate with an uluminum follower. I want it simple and correct for a single shot.

If it's a single shot, use a stock set up for a single shot, it'll have pillars in the stock to bolt up the action, use a adl or similar trigger guard and have the action bedded into place, you need a stock that is inletted to you action, I recommend McMillan and that you get a hold of Gary Eakin at bighorn sales, he'll be able to sort you out and your gunsmith should be able to help you as well. Gary's email is thereamerguy@yahoo.ca
