Hi I'm looking for bottom metal and mag suggestions. I hope to shoot a couple local PRS matches this summer and want to convert my short action 700 Remington to detachable mags. It's chambered in 6 XC and the Boyd's stock is currently inletted as an ADL. Utility, availablity and economy are prime concerns. Will two ten and one five round Mag will be enough for most one way range shooting ?

The easiest bottom metal to install (ie no gunsmith needed) is the Stiller one. You should be able to install it with a bit of minor dremmelling. 2x 10 round and 1x 5 round mags is plenty for matches although you'll never really find yourself using the 5 rounder.

I was buying one until recently, when I was told that there was a change in ownership at Stiller, and they screwed up renewing their export permit or something along those lines. If it isn't in stock, might take some time before they start crossing the border again.

I got some in cause they are really well priced and just to see who "crappy" a plastic DBM would be. Pleasantly surprised at how well these are made.

Polymer.. same stuff used in the stocks and pmag mags. Plenty strong and well molded.

Steel is used in the high stress areas like the pillars where the bolts go and the mag release. It is very well made part.

AICS mags fit firmly front and rear but can tilt side to side... that wouldn't affect feeding.

Overal, as a way to get AICS compatible DBM into a stock, the magpul hunter stock and DBM is the least expensive way. if the stock fits your tastes, it will function very nicely.

PM or email if interested

Jerry
