I bought two of these from an auction , appeared NIB , I installed new batteries and nothing happened. i am not sure if there is some part missing or not. The diode does not seem to work at all. Is there suposed to be a plastic cover over the diode ? when i look directly over the unit I see the two screw holes that line up with the base then further rearward the two wires that attach to I'm not sure what . Both of the units I bought are exactly the same ... if any one has one of these and can help please let me know.
