Bought a Canuck Sentry. Its a POS.

Many wrongs here - First, OP judging a gun by the shipped condition; second, so many agreeing POS just because it's Turkish; third, I don't believe you can buy any new Rem for $400. I have 3 Turks - a Girsan semi, Hatsan 28" pump, and a Hatsan 14" MarineGuard in SS. All have cycled anything I feed them, with NO probs. They are light synthetic stocks so I put LimbSavers on them, but I'm very satisfied for inexpensive all-round guns. Girsan - $450CDN; Hatsan $400CDN; H-14" = $400CDN - And several "Name brands" are made up of Turkish parts. :p
BTW, I'm not Turkish. I'm from Ohio.

So I bought a canuck sentry. Great idea for a cheap gun you can use and abuse.
Haven't even shot it yet.
Unboxed it and spent the last 3 hours trying to get the barrel off. The mag extension tube is dented on the bottom.
I was warned but bought it anyways. At least I'm only out $400.

At least you are not alone. After reading the Turkish gun poll there are a lot of people stating their gun is a piece of crap, instead of a Turkish Delight.

I think the poll will be skewed due to human nature. I think people who spend money on something like to tell themselves they are satisfied even in the face of evidence to the contrary. It reminds me of people who say the Remington express 870 is a great shotgun. You just have to have someone polish the chamber and then consider some kind of new finish because of rust issues.

13 Vs the 94 people who rated theirs either "excellent" or "very good."

2 of the 13 who voted "POS" had multiple Turkish guns where some were excellent and one was a lemon. So far, 80% voted "excellent" or "very good", 11% voted "good", but needed warranty work and 9% voted "POS". So far, sounds about what you would hear about most other makes.

I didnt voteas ive had reason to vote for each category.
However ive seen new benellis that wont cycle. New brownings that wont fire the bottom barrel and berettas that look like a 4 year old did the oiling of the stock. Its the world we live in. Anything mass produced will produce lower quality and the drive for profits will always push down quality control

This is true....
My new Browning 725 had an ejector issue...had to send it back for repairs a couple months after my purchase

Had a trigger problem with a Franchi Instinct......had to take it to Stoeger for repairs.

Had a Benelli SBE that had issues cycling lighter loads....eventually moved it along.

Bought a Beretta A300 when they first came out....wouldn't cycle because the recoil spring was binding and needed to be replaced

Apparently lemons can come in many flavours...

Regardless of where it is made, the real question is would you trust your life with it? I wouldn't mind owning a $300 Canuck Sentry for ####s and giggles but would chose a used $300 Mossy 500 if I needed something reliable for when things goes bump in the night.
