I am new to the .223. My son and I thought we would round out our holdings with a Colt 6920 LE.
We found one at a reasonable price from one of this sites sponcers and hope the BC CFO office moves quickly to approve the deal.
Our question to the knowledgable group is: What should we save for next. The rifle comes stock with a removable handle. Training is first on our list courtesy of our local police fire arms officer but now what.
Optics?
Stock?
Light?
Sling?
Rail?
What would you save for next, obviously the next question is what will we be using it for, Enjoyment

Thanks

my advice...buy a crate of ammo and a few magazines. once you get bored of the iron sights invest in a optic such as a eotech or aimpoint. later you can add a new stock, sling, lights and whatever.

Good question with good answers so far (looking at you enefgee). It would help me/us to know what is your intent with said AR. Sounds like you want to take courses/training with someone you know. Maybe start by asking him/her what you wil need and what will be nice to have...

There is also this thread:

Courses here:

Might get you an idea of what you want/need. People on courses and events tend to be friendly and will likely be quite happy to discuss the +/- of their set up.

To buy: Trijicon TA31F optic, Vickers Blue Force Gear Sling, 4-8 quality 5/30 round magazines (maybe a couple 10/10s for range plinking - they're not good for much else), oodles of ammo.

To do: Shoot the gun plenty with iron sights until your TA31F comes in. Then keep shooting it after it comes in. Look into your local Service Rifle competitions and use the guns like it was made to be used! Have fun.
