Set up a Yong Heng compressor for a test run filling a couple of guns/tank....sure beats hand pumping. Filled the HPA 13 inᶾ tank in about 35 seconds and the Crosman's in about 15 seconds each. (topping off 1500 psi to 3,000 psi) $310 with free shipping from an eBay vendor.

I saw that on Ebay, was hoping someone got one and reported on it. Looking forward to hearing more about it.
How does it look as far as parts availability? How much power does it draw? I just looked at one on Ebay that said 50 amps!
 
What do you do about moisture in the air. Thanks for the review.

Was that 310 US, the prices I am seeing are all a lot higher, even in US.

The unit has a cyclone moisture/oil separator between the low and high pressure pumps plus a small separator on the high pressure fill hose. I've been reading that people are adding an additional separator on the fill line such as the following:

I'll be doing this in the future but haven't pulled the trigger yet. How many other models did you look at before deciding on this one? When I have the time and ability I may end up building one that is more multi purpose, but I'm seeing good prices on entry level units compared to a few years ago.
 
Very interesting...I've often wondered about the quality of parts used on the Chinese machines. My concern would be the danger from the pressure using inferior parts.

there are 4 Yong Heng models each in 110v and 220v and priced accordingly
Automatic...shuts off at 4500 psi
Set Pressure...shuts off at the pressure you select
Hardcover...must be shut off manually
Simple...must be shut off manually and there is no cyclone filter (water/oil separator) which the other models do have.

I am not sure what the physical danger would be. In order to build these pressures, normally there are very minimal sized pistons, so the total amount of high pressure gas within the unit would be small. You could have a leak develop in a line or transfer, that sounds scary, but pretty much embraced in the guns themselves.

As far as the quality of parts used in the machines. Goodness only knows. A guy I know was involved in supervising electronics coming off the line in China. They would make part substitutions from suppliers seemingly randomly. His business required him to deliver the same quality as a western manufacturer, and he was in a field where the main brands were still western. So he would have to scrutinize each batch as they came off the line, and look for any weak points that he couldn't let out of China. It never ended. I think he felt they did this stuff because the whole supply chain was chaotic.

I have a home shop machine shop, and was thinking the same thing. The only other multi purpose I would have would be scuba. I can't see how I would do that, though I have been so blindered by the pcp side of this, I have never even looked up DIY scuba compressors. I just figured if the pros couldn't do it then neither could I, though in fact they can do it on a large enough form factor. Have you ever seen anything for PCP or scuba that included buildable plans?
