I bought a Kimber Desert Warrior on Friday and was wondering what experience people have had with them?

I did a lot of reading on the 1911 forums and watched some YouTube reviews. It's one of the few if not only Kimber's that doesn't have the Schwartz safety and it also has the standard length guide rod.

I have read that some people think Kimber's quality has fallen in recent years. I thoroughly inspected my Desert Warrior before buying it and the fit and finish was incredible.

Kind of silly making this post after I already bought it but please let me have it with the good and bad I can take it. :D

I have owned many 1911s over the years. All I can tell you is that my Kimbers are the only ones to stand up to the abuse and have consistently been reliable. Not to mention the only gun I ever regret selling was my Kimber aegis 2, gawd I miss that gun. PS if the guy who bought it off me is reading this. I want to buy it back from you.

Anyway don't fret you made a great choice with your Kimber and you will for sure love it without question (I just picked up a black tle and love te thing more then my nighthawk). Don't worry about what the interwebs says about firearms. I use the net as a guide line for my purchase and I take people reviews and opinions of firearms with a grain of salt. Half the people don't know what they are talking about and are more concerned about how it compares to their norinco rather then the quality of the firearm itself

Thanks! Really looking forward to shooting it. I will post my usual range report and pics since I am such an exhibitionist. :D

I would buy a DW Valor before any higher end Kimber. Especially in those price range, you just can't do better than the DW. I had the chance to handle and test fire both before I made my choice. For me, the DW is the clear winner here.

I have the Kimber Warrior...... It has laser beam accuracy. If you can't hit your target in my experience it's not the pistols fault. With either 200 grn truncated or 230 ball.
I bought mine used and the ambi safety was messed up. Korth Group made it right under warranty. I will not part with it. BTW to order the grips you have to give them your guns serial number as they won't just sell you the grips if you don't own the gun.

lol I was so close to buying your Valor! I just like to feel the gun in my hand before buying a gun and the Desert Warrior really impressed me. Nobody around here had a Valor for me to try. :D

Don't get me wrong, the Warriors/Desert Warriors are very nice 1911's, but for my money, the DW Valor had more to offer: all forged parts, no MIM, forged frame, fit and finish is outstanding, only 500 pieces made each year, that's why they are so scarce in the country. DW sells everything in the US and the importer can only get a few at a time with 6-12 months wait before another order comes in.

Congrads, I have owned a Kimber warrior for the last 6 years now. It is my go to gun for shooting. It is a strong solid gun that holds up to abuse and shooting punishment. You will be very happy with it and will have no worry when using it.

I've only had/fired one Kimber, a Custom II (might not compare to yours). It was a good shooter, very accurate. I just couldn't get excited about it and something I wanted more came up.

I forgot to tell you, when I was holding it at the gun shop before you bought it I dropped it:eek: just kidding, congrats on the new gun!
