Bought a Kimber Desert Warrior

congrats Chris. the kimber sis is my wet dream 1911. you shouldn't have any problems, and from what i hear the customer service at kimber is top shelf.
just a guess, Williams in Port?

Got the beautiful piece of workmanship today! First thing I did was put my VZ Operator II grips on it. Going to change them due to the colour which is silly I know. I put them on because they definitely are more functional for action shooting sports than any other grip I have tried next to the VZ Aliens. Want to use this gun at the IDPA provincials on the 20th of August so I wanted the Original grips off. I ordered these ones that may come before the 20th anyway...

I would buy a DW Valor before any higher end Kimber. Especially in those price range, you just can't do better than the DW. I had the chance to handle and test fire both before I made my choice. For me, the DW is the clear winner here.

Funny I dry fired a DW Valor last Thursday and was very disappointed with the trigger. More travel and heavier pull than my Warrior. The other thing I don't like about the Valors is how they look. They do have a strong following and great reviews though. I would rather replace any "lower quality" parts in a Kimber and have the look I want than buy a DW. Either that or just buy a Les Baer which has many fine looking pieces. Of course as everything in life beauty is in the eye of the beholder so don't flame me. :D

X2
I was checking a DW too and wasn't impressed at all, I'll never exchange my Kimber for a DW, period!

I am officially jealous! I really wanted a Kimber Warrior (Or Desert Warrior) but couldn't afford one. I love Kimbers but hate the firing pin safety. "Settled" on a Colt Government. :D

Your Kimber Warrior has a Carbon steel barrel which is prone to rusting. Keep a moderate coat of oil on outside of the barrel and you will love your Kimber for years to come.

Thanks. I have been using Gunzilla for a couple of years now. I guess it's a toss up, carbon steel barrels are supposed to stay accurate longer and are stronger but they will rust. I have yet to see any rust on any of my pistols or rifles since switching to Gunzilla though.
