Hello all!
I finally gifted myself of a JR Carbine in 9mm. Wow! But I have some questions...
What tool do I have to buy to dismantle the gun? Does an AR multi tool will do the job?
Also, i want to upgrade the gun gradually, with another buttstock and a handguard (also called the forend, right?)

Also the grip is interchangeable with the AR's one i think, right? What else? Trigger group?

I know, of course, that everything that fits to the stardard 20mm rails can be attached to it...

Is there a good place for buying some AR parts to fit on my JR?

Hey, regards in advance for your replys!!

Have a good one,

Congrats on your new Jr carbine. I'm not sure what you need to dismantle the firearm but I can answer some other questions.
The trigger group, stock, for end and grip are all interchangeable with ar parts. And most of the site sponsors sell AR parts. Try Wanstalls, or Wolverine or frontier firearms.

I've noticed that I have a threaded barrel, so that's give me the opportunity to put a flash hider or a muzzle break... Does someone know the threads of it? And is this a standard thread?

Congrats on the purchase, they are an awesome gun! Standard AR trigger, grip, rail (slight mods needed) and stock. Stock is a commercial tube and as for tools you will need either an AR wrench or the one that JR sells. Stock and tube has to be spun off to remove bolt. That is the one drawback but it is very minor, takes 2 min to dismantle.

Lot of seach and shopping today ;) ordered a Acog scope (chinese copy of... A real one is very expensive for now), flip up backup sights, magpul sling attachment, a muzzle break, magpul angled grip and a magpul "gas pedal", and some weaver rail covers. I want to order a barrel shroud and a Yankee Mfg Co handguard, or a ATI, depending of the availability... What do you think about this one:http://www.atigunstocks.com/ar15-forends/442-ar-15-aluminum-8-sided-rifle-length-free-float-forend-and-utility-rail-package-.html Will it be compatible?

I choosed a ACOG for the 4x magnification. A compromise between a scope and a red dot sight, I guess that the ACOG can take the advantage of the accuracy of the JR. But for the look, I think that holographic red dots ( like the Eotec) are the cutest.

I will need plenty of magazines... Where can I purchase cheap/used ones?

I've putted temporary a Tasco red dot on it and this afternoon I did shoot 40 rounds thru it without any issues. Not too loud, almost no recoil, easy rapid fire recovery... Very cool. Found that there was a bizzare "bouncing" feeling of the bolt when it closes, but this is my first blowback rifle, and I think that is the blowback mechanism who give me this feeling. The trigger is not my przefered one, but it is not a bad point at all. Even not if I found another trigger group to replace the factory one...

More fun to come!! What a nice hobby :D

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the two pieces handguards are'nt compatible with the JR, but the free floats may be fitted with some work, right?
I have access to machine shop tools, so I may be able to do some fitting...

Most two piece handguards clamp on the front handguard cap of AR rifles but since the JR doesn't have a handguard cap that's a no go. Most free floats should fit with little to no modification. About the worst I've heard of is some Yankee Hill FF HGs which needed a shim washer installed to be mounted snugly.

One word of caution. Do not buy a Magpul ASAP sling attachment for your JR. The JR carbine is a little wide in the rear. I could only get mine to fit with some extreme filing and it looked like crap afterwards. Go for something else for sling attachment if you are considering this.

I've odered this one: http://store.magpul.com/product/MAG502/46, so no worries... ;) I like bungee style slings, so I must get the sling attachment where the rifle get its wieght balaced to hold on my chest properly. Easier with this attachment...
