Forgive my ignorance, I tried the search function with no success.

I purchased a stripped AR lower and assume I will receive a reg cert stating that.

At what point in the build do I resubmit for a restricted "rifle" vice a stripped receiver to the CFC?

TIA

This one has been beaten to death before....

Some say AR15 is a modular weapon, so leave it as a registered "lower receiver only"

Others say Phone the CFC everytime you put a different length upper on it...

Personally,
I have never bothered to re-classify when I decide to use a different upper. It is like putting a different slide on your colt.

A stripped AR lower IS a restricted firearm. You don't need to resubmit anything. The issue is the "receiver only" designation. Once you assemble the lower you can call the CFC and tell them it is no longer just a receiver but realistically it makes little difference. The AR is modular and thus can be many different rifles but every single one of them is restricted.

mine is reg'd as "lower receiver"
After each outting, I "store" mine as receiver only in the safe. ;)

In Ontario the CFO holds that since your LTATT is for the purpose of target shooting, and a stripped lower can't be fired, a firearm registered as "receiver only" is not covered by said LTATT.

YMMV.

??
The LTATT covers the Transport of Firearms. The Receiver is a Firearm.

That is like saying a 30 round mag is not prohib. if it doesn't have a spring or follower because it can't hold bullets.....:nest:

Don't ask me... it doesn't make sense to me either. It seems like they'd like to have their cake and eat it too. If they really want to push this line they may start specifying reg cert numbers on the ATT.
