I have an AR15 coming in the mail and I was looking to buy a case of ammo. I figure bulk is a better deal.

Is the 1200 round case at marstar a good deal? or could I find an equal price locally (in the lowermainland)

Anyone want to recommend a store I should support.

The cheaper Win .45JHP at walmart is a poor choice in an AR. They have no cannalure and have a tendency to get pushed back into the case. This can lead to a pressure spike/KB.

I'd go with almost anything else first.

Yes, I've experienced this many times. At first I was having problems with the winchester white box hollow points not feeding properly. The bullets were not being pushed into the case, they would just hang up. So I hunted high and low for some FMJ. They feed better, but out of 50, over 12 rounds failed to feed and had bullets pushed backinto the case.

Guess it's time to buy a reloading press.....

I've found the Fed 50HP works, is crimped/canallured, but they ALSO crimp the primers, which is a PITA for reloading vs the other brass.

My fav is WWB 55gn FMJ in the 50 packs. Also shoot a lot of Rem 223 55FMJ, it works fine(but hate the over-packaging). The Rem feels weaker than the WWB, and is slightly less accurate IME, but operates fine. I really should chrony some, anyone else done it already?
