Well got my new muzzle loader home last night, T/C Omega cant wait to shoot it. Does anyone have any tips to help me get the most performance out of this gun as possible. I put a 2-7 vortex scoop on it.
Has anyone ever herd off putting electrical tape over the end of the muzzle to help keep moisture and dirt out, does it work and does it hurt the gun Thanks.:

Well, Sir, I'd be guessing that you'd be better off axing your main question down on the M/L forum, and since it's an in-line you are talking about it will be an interesting thread to follow.

As for putting a piece of tape over the end of the muzzle, what do you think that will do to a 300gr bullet coming out at around 2000 fps?

Do it in good health, like about half a million of us already do.

Enjoy!

i put tape on the barrel and a few wraps oround it to keep the ramrod from falling out while hunting. the air thats in the barrel compress and will blow the tape off before the bullets gets to the end of the barrel.

i shoot the 250 tipped barnes with 110gr of buckhorn 209 and rem cleanbore primers. shoots good. the same bullet and primmer with 777 pellets shoots just as good.

I run 100 grains of 777, 209 cheddite primers, and either a barnes or hornady sst 250 grain for deer in my omega. It seems to like the poly tipped spitzer bullets better than the hollow point pistol bullets that used to be popular. When sighting in, swab with a spit patch between shots, it shoots better groups that way. I've never covered my muzzle, I cradle my rifles and don't have to worry about crap falling in the muzzle. Make sure your barrel is clean and dry and the nipple is clear before you load it(after storage). Enjoy your new toy!

I use 110 grains of Blackhorn 209 behind a 250 grain T/C shockwave saboted bullet. Played around with a few different charges til I settled on this. Shot a nice solid 4 X 4 at 130 yards this fall.
