Bought my first AR lower, no what?

While I would agree with you that an unknown brand of LPK from TNA isnt the best choice, buy an LPK from a known and established company such as DPMS and CMMG isnt a bad thing. Both of their LPK are very well made and will operate fine in any AR build you can do. While I do agree that they are not of the same quality as the Schmidt and Schenider parts used in military grade or high end rifles like Colt, KAC, DD etc, they are still of good quality and will work absolutely do as designed in any rifle build you may do. Ive built several AR's and all were using DPMS LPK with the exception of my IUR build which I used ALG parts (which are the same as colt, DD etc...). DPMS LPK work. Plain and simple.

Don't confused the terms established and known for quality. You say their LPK's are well made. By who and to what standard?? Seeing as there is only one standard(milspec) it is easy to say that they don't meet it, not based on their reputations and not based on the price. My experience with DPMS falls in line as well.

I'm confident all parts will work, until they don't. The question is when will that failure occur?

ill bow down to others with more experience in this field.
but the 2nd question that should be asked is this:
for 99% of us that shoot recreationally does it really matter?

majority of us are punching paper and shooting a couple hundred rounds a year so will we see the decline in the 'lesser parts' that others who put thousands of rounds down the pipe and require their AR's for work?

hell my 2 Norinco CQ's have yet to fail and ive been beating those Chinese buggers up for near 10 years now!

Buy whatever parts you can afford and enjoy the fun of putting it together. People who keep talking about mil spec this , quality this....are imaging using their guns for social purposes in fantasy that will never come true.

You aren't building this for the RCMP or what not, so buy the parts you like and enjoy the hobby of putting it together within your budget.

Best answer yet and I'm still laughing!

I have access to 1000's C7s and C8's through work; I was simply looking to build a personal fun gun for recreational use!

Exactly, anything but the same thing used at work! All the modifications not allowed at work to the heart content lol

This is a bit off topic but I'll ask anyways. Once you have assembled the lower and install upper how do you go about changing the registration of the lower only to a completed AR.

Phone the CFO office and advise them of the now completed rifle and its corresponding barrel length. They will send you out a new certificate of registration.

You've missed the point like many others have Greentips. It is not about the end use perceived or real. The desire for milspec components means your parts are held to a STANDARD. Other non milspec parts are not held to any standard. If you enjoy gambling on quality to save a few dollars so be it. Others prefer to buy quality the first time and focus on shooting.

I think the simplest way you gents can wrap this bantering up is as such.

Buy whatever components you feel suit your needs and your budget.

If buying milspec components is worth a premium to Kidd X, greentips' d**k isn't going to fall off.
If buying the inexpensive components because they're all the same to greentips is what he wants, Kidd X's d**k won't fall off.

Everything when building a rifle is so subjective to the end user, and unless you two are assaulting a position under fire together, it's not going to matter if you have differing opinions.

As a side note, I apologize if either of you aren't of the male gender. I don't honestly know what would "fall off" in the event differing opinions caused the previously stated event, but you get my drift.

LOL well said! Final point from me. All I'm saying is that buying known quality parts greatly reduces the chances of parts failure. No one enjoys their guns going down either at the range or out hunting.
