Hey guys,
Well after hearing so much about the 260 from our good friend Todbartell, I decided last night to sell my 25-06 and buy the 260 advertised in the exchange. Nice Rem 700 Mtn Rifle Stainless....just gotta find a nice stock for it and it will be my wifes primary gun, and my sheep, deer, and antelope gun.......really cant wait.

My 30-06 Mtn Rifle Stainless should show up tomorrow or the next day from Corlanes in a WildCat Composites stock. Looks like I'll have a matching set of 2 Stainless Mtn Rifles.....I'm really excited. Just gotta track down a Rem Ti or laminate stock for the new gun, and get it scoped and shooting before the season......not much time, but hopefully I can have it ready for coyotes this winter.......

Anyways, very pumped to see what the .260 will do for me and hope my wife likes it. She loves the 25-06 but I think the 260 will be a bit more fun.....

She will love the 260 rem, for those animals the 125 gr partition is perfect. Are you handloading? If so 45 gr of H4350 and a CCI 200 primer is a great load, very accurate in both of mine and hits very hard.

she'll love the rifle, my first 700 was that exact rifle, a 700 lss mtn rifle. check 24hr campfire for a Ti stock, they're awesome. put a decelerator pad on it and she'd be good to go

for a mild recoiling deer load, try some 100 gr Nosler Partitions over H4895, 2900 fps will duplicate a 243 with a bit more frontal area.

for elk or moose, a 130 gr TSX over Varget should yield very good results

Good stuff guys.....really lookin forward to getting it and shooting it. I'll be handloading so once I get it all together I'll start lookin at a few different loads. I'm thinking I'll shoot TSX's and Partitions out of it.....should be good killer....

Been checkin over at 24hourcampfire for a stock...will be lookin to find one soon hopefully......

How bad of a fit will an SPS SA stock fit with the Mountain countour bbl? I can pick one up cheap and was thinking of just shooting it for the fall and could upgrade after the season? Will the sporter bbl channel be too big?

It would look awful. The general size of the stock is bigger in all proportions. do it right. I think there was a mr stock for sale in the parts exchange here or in the dealer listing.

Found a Bansner in ADL config.....is there much involved in converting over from BDL to ADL? Would have to price out painting, bedding, etc to see if its worth it as my 30-06 just cost a little bit of cash, but its an option....

From what I hear it should be a great cartridge.......gotta like the ones that arent SUPER popular. I'm wondering what kind of recoil difference I might notice from the 25-06? Other than weight of the rifle of course.....pretty similar shooting the 120 grains? I like the idea of being able to go to a heavier bullet in the 260 over the 25-06......

I've been working up Muley/Sheep Loads for my 260 Ti.
I'm using the 125 Nosler Partition because I like them ;)
You both will learn to Love this Little Round:cool:

converting them from BDL to ADL requires a new magazine box

and of course an ADL trigger guard

you can use the existing mag follower/spring

Ti stocks are ADL, so it'd be the same as the Basner

The 260 will have quite a bit less recoil, it runs at about 8 grains less powder with similar weight bullets. I find all cartridges based onthe 308 case recoil very little, much less than the corresponding 30-06 variant.

I didnt realize the Ti was ADL as well...good to know. I might have to jump on the Bansner, although I didnt really want to get into such an investment right away on this gun. What kind of money does the average Ti stock go for?

I think around $225 or a bit more

they *are* nice handles, my Long Action weighed 26 oz finished IIRC

I had a BDL Wildcat on my first LSS mtn 260, 22 oz finished.

Nice rifle. I really considered taking that one myself. What I'd really like to get is a factory rifle in .260 Rem with a full sporter weight barrel [i.e. not featherweight or mountain rifle contour]. I'm sure you will really like this one, though.

NAA, have you checked out the m77 mk2 in 260? Im sure their barrels are a bit thicker than a mtn tube.

Remington originally came out with the 260 Remington with a stainless 20" model seven, and a 24" BDL SS DM that has a thicker tube. that model was discontinued, but Im sure there's some floating somewhere

best bet to get what you want is have a gunsmith build it ;) :)

Actually, been considering both options.... have checked out the Ruger 77 MkII in .260 Rem. Had a MkII in 6.5x55mm before that was a real shooter.

Also, have an extra Rem 700 BDL short action sitting around right now. It's current form is as a 24" heavy barrel .308 Win. Been thinking about having it redone to .260 Rem with a stainless medium heavy barrel...

Thanks for the response about the Ti stock Bartell......

I've gotta decide whether I buy the Bansner (good price) and put the money of paint, bedding, pad, etc or if I just wait and find a Ti stock. From what I've seen, the Ti stocks are nice....just gotta find one!!

stupider things have been done!

I love my Gaillard 260, med weight 23" 1:8 twist, fluted...shoots real good, although I havent been shooting as much lately due to work and other stuff getting in the way

hard to beat the 260, for medium game hunting and long range target...hard to beat ;)
