Bought powder from retailer but its open

Hey guys,

Bought a 1lb container of CFE223 from a local retailer yesterday. Got it home and noticed that there was powder on the outside and the safety seal is half ripped open and pulled back.

What would you do? Return it for a new one? Not worry about it? Super strange
 
Weigh it. If short return to vendor.

Is the powder still loose indicating no moisture got in. If there a clumps return it.

I have seen people open powder containers just to look at the powder. I am not one of them.
 
The contents is compromised , unknown what has happened.

Treat it like a bottle of meds from the pharmacy.

If they don't replace/refund the purchase, discard the powder.$40 is small sacrifice for not knowing what is in the bottle.

Agreed. 99% chance it's totally fine. But what if it isn't...
 
If it's Hogdon powder, half the time the seal comes off when you take off the lid, and there are always granuals on the seal. I'd take a look at it but wouldn't sweat it. But that's just me

I've had alot of seals come off in the lid as well. But not torn with powder in it.

But yeah I'm sure you're almost definitely correct. Nothing to worry about 99.9% for sure.
 
I'd agree that Hodgdon has poor packaging. I've had several bottles that had the inner seal loose. There's usually two, one stays in the cap, the other is SUPPOSED to remain on the bottle.
A plastic shrink seal on the cap would make a better product.
Having said that, there may be a safety reason it isn't done that way.

Yeah - what the hell is up with that?
Back when I did gun shows - I had a few nitwits try this. (on new, unopened bottles)
The ones I caught got barked at and scurried off.
The ones that asked got the "Are you f'ing retarded?"TM look but were politely told "No."

Still have no idea WTF they were thinking.
 
I can confirm the seal didn’t tear open during the opening. It was ripped 3/4 of the wag across the opening, like a single fingers tore it open.

The good news is that Bullseye swapped out the bottle for me :). No troubles.

They did the same for me and it was all my fault ordered the wrong model rifle.

I buy from them first even if what I’m after is cheaper elsewhere.
