I got my first, and so far, only, deer with a bow from what could only generously be called a "Ground Blind".
Mule buck, about 12 feet away, while I was sitting very still, on an upturned bucket, with about a dozen broken-off poplar branches stuck into the ground in front of me.
Proof that one should never underestimate luck as a factor in hunting.
The guy hopped the fence to cross the train tracks, and he was pretty accustomed to using that route. There was actually a groove worn in the ballast where the deer had been using the trail across.
Surprised that he could not hear my heart beating from where he stopped.
But I digress.
I prefer ground blinds. I have used brush piles, logging slash, and similar, but not used the portable tent type.
Seen a fair enough amount of game.
Cheers
