Anyone know a source for the v-springs for the hammers on an old Belgian box Lock? Unfortunately there's no makers name on the gun, only Belgian proofs and the 12/65 stamp so I know it's older with 2 1/2" chambers. It's a Greener style I believe.
I think you will have to have them custom made. If I remember correctly, Nick Makinson in Ontario can make flat springs. But the cost would likely be equal to the value of a Belgian guild gun. Sorry to be the bringer of bad news.
check the online catalogs for Dixie Gun Works and Track of the Wolf. They may have some blank tempered springs. You need to make sure that the one you choose is close to the dimensions of the broken or missing spring in your gun and for the correct side. I would also buy more than one because I expect the shipping cost will be more than the spring.
The springs I am talking about usually have a fin or bar of metal where the pin is on the upper arm of the spring. That allows you to grind and file the pin into the correct location.
If you could post a picture with a ruler beside the broken spring somebody might be able to come up with something close that you could work with. D.H.
Just an update on this project. After getting a little research and advice from another member here, I attempted, and was successful in manufacturing my own new spring for this old girl. I must say it's very satisfying to be able to make a spring like this from scratch.
