Hey guys,

Anyone know what one should pay for an original, unopened box of Dominion .455 ammo?

The old man has a S&W .455 and he has a chance to buy the above for $75. Wondering if that's on the mark.

Thanks,

Matt

Yes, it sounds about right. Considering Fiocchi is in the $40 to $50 range modern production, a Domion box unopened would be a collector item in itsself. There were those original boxes of .280 Ross going for $200, i'm sure 10 rounds of loose .280 would have gone for much less.

.455 Colt or .455 MK11

All the Dominion .455 ammo that Iv'e seen are marked Colt. All the new Fiocchi ammo that I have seen are mk11. The colt brass is longer than the mk2 brass, Fiocchi is also a solid head case. Up to $60 for the Fiocchi and as high as $75 for the .455 Colt is what it goes for around here. Having said that, the empty brass for both are going for as much as a buck apiece. The premium in the Colt ammo is do to the collectabilty aspects more than likely. I guess it just boils down to how badly we need (want) it.

Doug.

Matt better check if your dads S&W is 455 ELEY(Colt) or 455 Webley and better check what the Box was. Same name but not same shell. I think the Webley is a shorter case and can be fired in the Colt but not Vice Versa. I would paid $75 for an unopened 455 Eley(Colt) 50 Round box!! I assume the 455 Dominion is 455 Colt

Meanea,

Thanks for the info. If memory serves me correctly, it is a CDN issued Hand Ejector Second Model .455. Can't remember the date it was manufactured. The Dominion is 455 Colt as far as I can remember too, and he already had 2 other boxes of that same ammo that came with the gun when he picked it up. Oh, should mention that he already picked up the ammo. The box looked like it just came out of the factory, but the ammo had that white crap on the lead and needs to be cleaned up.

Thanks for the heads up.
P.S. Pick up any nice Winnies lately?
