In the past I read that the newer and older Stevens 200 came with slightly different magazine set ups. One was attached to the barrel and the other was glued into the stock. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I would like to put a boyds on mine. It appears to have the magazine glued into the stock. Does boyd make a stock for this configurations. If so how do they deal with the magazine. ?

Thanks

If you have a center feed Stevens 200 in the long action model the boyds stock will fit with a small bit of inletting.the magazine is not glued into the stock of the 200 it is held in place by a locking piece at the rear of the magazine.the mag can be removed and fitted to the boyds stock with a block placed in front of the mag in the mag well of the stock.the short action 200 has a different action screw spaceing than the boyds stock as they were made for 2nd generation savage and stevens rifles.

Well done powder burner. That's a good looking rifle.
Powdergun, give Boyd's a call. I was inquiring late last summer about a stock for my
daughters Stevens 200 in the 308win caliber. They said they were hoping to get stocks
up and running for the short action straight stack feed in October (last). I didn't wait and
ordered one thru Richard's. I do have my work cut out for me on this one. Pretty rough.
Not sure if Boyd's are any better. Haven't purchased from them. Will give them a go next
go around. Cheers.

I put a Boyds Thumbhole on my Stevens 200 223 - very easy fit. I had to do 5 min of work to make it fit, but it really wasnt anything more than filling the front screwhole with JB weld when I got it, then redrilling the hole slightly further (and countersinking)to fit the screw- all measurements for this are given on boyds website, however i just measured my stevens stock, and copied those measurements.
Dont be discouraged by this - its a simple procedure and easily done!
My gun was a bit wonky with groups after the switch, so my plan was to bed everything, but first i tried a bit of upward forearm pressure (read about on here, and thank you to whomever it was that suggested that) on the barrel and my groups are now about 1/2moa, 26.5 varget with 60 noslerBTip
Good Luck!
Regards
Chris

I'm kind of partial to the Boyd's thumbhole stock for my Stevens .223.
