Boyds or KRG?

I recently purchased the Tikka T1x in .17 hmr and want to upgrade the stock. I’m torn between a boyds (likely the varmint thumbhole) or a KRG bravo. Any feedback on experience with either of these would be appreciated.

You've got to decide if you want wood (Boyds) or plastic/metal (KRG), and go from there.

I've got a Savage Mk.II; well it's a BTV, which is a Mk.II in a varmint thumbhole - although with no markings as it is produced for Savage. Amazing fit and finish on the stock, beautiful laminate, and the thumbhole makes the rifle very easy to bring to the shoulder in a comfortable position; and one that is repeatable.

The KRG is pretty sweet. Mine houses a Remington 700. The MDT xrs is coming out this month for the tikka. Not sure if the t1x fits but that's another option and Canadian at that

I've shot the T1X in a krg. I was impressed. The setup is getting kinda expensive IMO. Any gun I like, I put in a Boyd's and never disappointed.

KRG Bravo is quite nice, I would go that way. Also, Boyds is wood, so I avoid it like the covid.

My T1x has a KRG it fits nice and works great for bench and prone shooting. Not the best for shooting standing up plinking gophers though

Why is it not great for standing shooting? Too heavy?

I'm so impressed with how the Tikka shoots I would like to upgrade the stock too but don't want it to look goofy with the 16" tube.

I'm not going to add a new barrel etc. Waiting to see if the MDT XRS comes out for the T1X too

The KRG and the Boyds Pro Varmint are the same weight. 3lbs 6oz. The Pro Varmint and the KRG have a very similar vertical grip were as a thumb hole version has the grip at more of an angle. This will be personal preference, I prefer the vertical grip for all shooting positions, easier on the wrist.

Can you go with the MDT LSS-RF? It has a shorter front handguard than the ACC. I know the 20" barrel T1x just barely sticks past handguard in an ACC.

Ya I just find it heavy and awkward. But that might just be me
