Does anyone have a Boyd’s Prairie Hunter on a Savage 10? I dislike how low the comb is on the stock stock (haha), for me it makes for a definite jaw weld. The prairie hunter has the raised comb, which seems like it should line the shooters eye up with the scope a little better, can anyone confirm with experience? I like my scopes as low as possible, bolt clearance with the ocular housing being the limiting factor.

Thanks

Order it with the adjustable comb!

Wow, just blew my mind!! I didn’t know they offered the prairie hunter with the adjustable comb!

Nice looking rifle by the way

Now, you didn’t happen to weigh that stock, or did you?

I have one a savage 220 and two on model 700's. Two laminates and one walnut. The comb is perfect for low or medium mounted scopes for good cheek weld. Boyd's did a good job on the open narrow grip, medium forend and a higher comb than most factory stocks.

How narrow would you say the grip is? Similar to the factory savage? I prefer a thicker grip, like one the browning x bolt. Thanks

The prairie hunter grip is more open giving it a longer wrist, which makes it feel thinner compared to a closed grip. It's nice for a hunting rifle even if you have large hands. The factory savage grip is more closed with less wrist, the prairie hunter is nicer imo.

The Prairie Hunter and the Heritage are my two favourite Boyd's stocks, I like a raised comb on most rifles [except Levers], I find a good cheek weld reduces felt recoil. I didn't know you could get an adjustable comb either.
