So, the offspring has a lefty Savage Mark II with a brutally shortened stock that he has now outgrown. I'm thinking of dropping the rifle into an Ss Evolution stock (and having the barrel shortened to 18") for a quick handling carbine. Are there any Evolution users here? Anything you don't like about these stocks?

My 597 TVP came factory with one and I love it.. bit heavy but thats also a factor of the heavy stainless barrel, also I added sling studs for a bipod and swivel...I'd recommend it.

My CZ 455 sported an evo stock for a year then I switched it to mdt chassis. Evo look good I just prefer the adjustable cheek rest, adjustable lop and multiple attachement points on chassis.

Good if you can get one on sale, I don't know that I would pay full retail price for one. My only real complaint is that they are really slick. So if you have sweaty hands on a warm day it can be a bit slippery. Here's one I got when Boyd's had a sale on the Royal Jacaranda model:

Very nice stock. I have a Boyds Pro Varmint ordered.

How has the accuracy changed if any did you notice ?
I generally shoot AE Hollow Points and they have been plenty accurate for gophers out to 65 long paces in the field.
Looks kinda funky (in a good way) and heat doesn't look like it will cause an issue after many rounds in the gopher patch.

In that rifle I never noticed any difference in accuracy vs the factory stock. But that rifle shot very well with standard velocity ammo to begin with.
