Boyd's stock~export permit req.?

Hey guys, I plan on ordering a stock from Boyd's today ($92) for my Savage 93FV, and I will be needing the metal trigger guard and mag plate as well. As I understand it, no export permit is req. if the stock is under $100, but IF I add the guard/plate item @ $22...total order would be $114. Am I better to NOT order those parts from Boyd's, or will there be no issues ordering both?

I can order the other parts from Savage direct, just thought if I could do it all in one shot, it would be easier.
 
With Boyds, just keep the value of the order under $100 and it comes through with no difficulty. I've placed 6 orders with them this way. In fact, they won't ship to Cda if it's over $100.
I can tell you that if export documentation on a stock is $100.04 you have an excellent chance of losing it. Don't ask me how I know this.:(
 
Unfortunately you will have to place 2 separate orders and get dinged for double shipping. Or you can get the bottom parts straight from Savage and get all the proper screws. The ones that come with your tupperware stock will not fit with the wood stock.
 
Thanks guys, just got off the phone with them. They said they'd have to ship as 2 separate orders, so I opted for the stock alone.

Now...off to search for the Savage Part#/contact info. :)
 
ITAR has changed the maximum amount that can be exported for gun parts... it is now $500 not $100... but not many companies are up on the change yet... soon we won't have to break-up orders into multiple small orders and get dinged for all of that extra shipping. :)

Boyd's website have the parts numbers listed. Also Savage Arms will know what you need if you tell them it's for a Boyd's stock :D

Don't forget the extra trigger guard screw when placing the order.

Boyd's don't know that yet I guess, not too concerned about it~the parts are all ordered! If everything goes together as it should, I'll list all the Savage/Boyd's part #s and the totals I paid. Right now, looks like about $174...but I may have ordered screws from Savage I didn't need. Not worth waiting another 10days plus to save $2 on a part I should have ordered the first time.

Where is this written down? Do you have a link?

It might be worth it to a good number of members here to have a link to send to our favorite US vendors to convince them to change / update their policies.
 
ITAR 123.17... still not updated in the website documentation. Will check the most recent amendments...

It also says "for exports to Canada refer to 126.5 of this subchapter"

This stuff is all super mind numbing! :eek:

That's the phone number in the states, do you not call the plant in Lakefield Ontario. Seems to me they would ship from there anyways seeing as how their rimfire guns are made there.
 
The regulations have to be rewritten to reflect the new $500 limit.

Boyd's even counts stock oil as a part of the $100. If you live within an hour of the border, you will find it's cheaper and faster to ship to one of the package processing companies along the border.

Based on this, section 123.17 pertains to firearms parts and it hasn't changed from the $100 limit.
