Anyone tried to fit a Boyds stock to model 1600 Husqvarna? I notice Boyds lists large and small ring Mauser stocks ( I assume M98 and M96 ?) under the Husqvarna brand, but there is no mention of the model 1600. I'm wondering if the 1600 can be fit into the large ring stock without a great deal trouble.

The lug spacing is different, 7-13/16" between screws, small ring. I also have a 1600 and am looking for another stock, so let us know what you find.

I have purchased a few stocks from Boyd's to fit M96 rifles. In that section they give very precise measurements to show the difference between large ring and small ring M96's. They might do the same for M98's if you look around the web site.

There was a significant amount of wood working to do to fit the stocks to my rifles. The bolt channel has to be cut, the front screw hole needs to be rounded out properly to fit, the mag well needed some trimming and there was some real finicky stuff trying to make the Timney trigger work properly.

Not complaining at all as Boyd's was very up front that stock work would be required, plus I sort of enjoyed working to fit the rifle because it really makes it "my own" creation...sort of...lol. I used a Dremel as it was much easier. One tip when using the Dremel tool is to STOP when you get tired or cramped. I didn't once and it lead to an ugly mark on the stock that took extra time to clean up.

Thanks for the replies guys. I don't have a 1600 Husqvarna currently. After all the looking around I did, I can't believe I didn't know the 1600 is a small ring. Anyway, I've been considering another purchase, but I may end up settling on a 98.
